Proudly and boldly representing the South Atlantic Region, we have remained committed to sisterhood, scholarship, and service in the Pitt County / Greenville community.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated has been at the forefront of this work since 1913, when 22 collegiate women decided to use their collective efforts to make a better world and to stand up for injustices in our communities.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is an organization of college-educated women committed to the constructive development of its members and to public service, with a primary focus on the Black community.
Founded on January 13, 1913, the Sorority is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing assistance and support through impactful programs and initiatives in local communities worldwide. Since its founding, more than 300,000 women have joined the organization, forming a dynamic sisterhood of predominantly Black, college-educated women.
Today, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated has more than 1,000 collegiate and alumnae chapters located throughout the United States, Canada, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Jamaica, the Republic of Korea, the Arabian Gulf, Southern Africa, and West Africa.

Shortly after its founding, the sorority demonstrated its commitment to advocacy by participating in the historic Woman Suffrage Procession on March 3, 1913, in Washington. As the organization's first public act, this participation marked the beginning of Delta Sigma Theta's enduring legacy as a public service organization dedicated to advancing social justice, educational equity, and community empowerment.
With more than a century of service, Delta Sigma Theta remains committed to sisterhood, scholarship, and service, positively impacting communities throughout the United States and around the world.

Pitt County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated (PCAC) was chartered on January 11, 1997, by twenty-six visionary and dedicated women committed to serving, uplifting, and empowering the residents of Pitt County. Established to extend the Sorority's enduring legacy of public service, scholarship, and social action, the chapter proudly serves communities throughout Pitt County, including Ayden, Bethel, Farmville, Greenville, Grifton, Winterville, and surrounding areas.
At the time of the chapter's founding, Pitt County was experiencing a significant transformation from a predominantly rural community to a rapidly growing metropolitan area. Expansion within the region's healthcare and industrial sectors fueled population growth and increased demand for educational opportunities, health resources, civic engagement, and community-based services. Recognizing these evolving needs, the charter members deliberately expanded the chapter's outreach beyond the county seat of Greenville to ensure that residents throughout Pitt County—including those in smaller and underserved communities—benefited from the Sorority's programs and initiatives.
Guided by the principles of service, scholarship, sisterhood, and social action, the Pitt County Alumnae Chapter remains steadfast in its commitment to enhancing the quality of life for individuals and families across the county. Through innovative programming aligned with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated's Five-Point Programmatic Thrust, the chapter promotes educational excellence, economic empowerment, physical and mental wellness, political awareness, and international engagement.
For nearly three decades, PCAC has continued to cultivate leaders, advocate for equity, support youth and families, and partner with community organizations to address critical needs.
